About The Salopian Bar
Bar owner, Oliver Parry, opened The Salopian Bar in December 2005, as a wine bar/bistro. After eighteen months of trade, that Oliver realised that trade was increasingly being driven by the sale of Real Ales.
From having just one real ale on draught at opening, Oliver built up the number of ales on draught to three. The Salopian Bar gained selection to the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2008 and now also the 2009 edition. Oliver decided to stop selling food on the 1st January 2008 to concentrate on what has become a passion for himself and the Salopian’s clientele.
Since then, the Salopian has won both the CAMRA, Shrewsbury & West Shropshire Pub of the Year 2008 and 2009 Award and the county, Shropshire CAMRA Pub of the Year Award 2008. We now have seven ales permanently on sale.
The Salopian has four Belgium beers on draught, as well as a quality selection of bottled Belgium beers.
The Salopian stocks between three and twelve real ciders and perries on draught all year round, as well as holding an annual cider festival in August.
In August 2008, The Salopian gained a sister pub, The Lion Hotel in Llansantffraid.
